Like
everyone, I’m a bundle of contradictions. I have absolutely no patience. I don’t
like waiting at stop lights. I don’t watch a great deal of television, but when
I do, the commercials seem to drag out forever. It’s that bad…30 seconds can
seem like 30 days.
For
the most part I look forward to anticipating holidays, usually it’s the great
trifecta of holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. (I’m not the best
New Year’s Eve partier, usually asleep before 10 p.m.) This year we had an extra
holiday thrown in with the Oklahoma State BCS bowl game.
So
there were four months back-to-back with something to happily
anticipate.
Now
it’s cold. This Okie actually has to wear socks on a regular basis and nothing
to look forward to except one thing – the upcoming Sweet Arts Gala.
Billed
as “an evening for romance,” the Sweet Arts Gala has it all, dinner, dancing,
auction. Last year’s event was wonderfully well attended, even after having to
be rescheduled due to the blizzard.
The
food was delicious, the music was just right for dancing, and the art was
superb.
So
it’s no wonder that I’m anticipating the event again this year. Once again the
Jack Mitchell Band will be performing. I’ve heard there are even more amazing
artists lined up. In fact April Davis is hosting a sneak preview of the art set
to be auctioned.
You
can stop by The Grotto Art Gallery, Saturday January 28, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.,
enjoy some light refreshments and get an advanced look at how some of our area’s
finest artists are supporting the Neosho Arts Council.
At
just $40 a tickets, the Sweet Arts Gala is an incredible deal.
It’s close enough to Valentine’s Day to call that
holiday “good.” Dinner, dancing, art auction…you’ll just have to keep
anticipating a little longer.
